It’s amazing how vintage signs really reflect their country of origin! We have some lovely old metal signs round here but it’s a totally different style to your US designs, same for English vintage too! Great subject for a photo series or several, that’s for sure 🙂
I think that American vintage road signs have a particular style all their own– the words, “no rhyme or reason” come to mind when I see them … and yet somehow they have their own beauty… zany colors, shapes, lights and all 😀
Ah, well then I must ask: how was the pizza? Was it truly original? And I know I would not have been able to walk past the fish restaurant without going in. You truly have a great eye for not only composition and color but for places to eat.
Did you??? Ive been going there since I was a baby!! So you know the Sky Valley Highlands area? We have a cabin there where Ill be going next month 🙂 🙂
I think you would LOVE IT!! Particularly out West near the mountains, in the deserts and along the beaches in Cali~ I don’t know you but somehow I imagine it would suit you— and the Grand Canyon… yea, I think you’d really like it 😉
Thank you very much SH! 🙂 I love vintage road sings like these — do you have these in England? These are fantastic– very small, out of the way type places to eat– I thought about posting images of my favorite dishes that I eat at each place– but then decided against it– but the Fried Chicken at Clayton Café is WICKED!! 😀
I live in Orlando — so we have quite a few around town…especially the older part of town — and there are also a lot around the beaches (which are less than an hour from here) …yes you all must come– I think you would love us! …particularly (even though I’ve never met you) I think you would love the West— deserts and mountains and such- seems to suit you… not the mention the Grand Canyon …utter gorgeousness! …Did you know you can hike to the bottom- it takes about 3 hours — such incredible beauty- almost unparalleled 😀 😀
My wife danced in Vegas back in the late 90’s (Yes, I married a hoofer…I said hooFer 🙂 ), and did the canyon by helicopter and on foot to the bottom….She never tires of telling me how amazing it was…
Personally I think you both should stop rubbing it in!
😦
LOL~ okokok 😀 …seriously I think you’d pack your lens and get lost wandering — my grandfather paid for my trip and for me to stay at the Phantom Ranch – which are lodges right at the bottom of the Canyon –I stayed for almost a week– UNFORGETTABLE! …and I do HIGHLY recommend the Mule Duffel Service!!
A week in a hole?
No I’m joking…..That really does sound good……..
🙂
Every photo magazine I ever open always has shots of the G.C.
I SO need to get there.
These are really cool pix, especially the first one. I like how the sign is almost the exact same color as the sky, but you capture the lines well and the depth of field. Great shot!
Excellent work. Jack Astors is a restaurant chain that prominently features pictures like these in all of their franchises. It’s treat just going there to see the decor.
I packed my bags, went where I sometimes do and ended my holiday drawn in by the pristine beauty of misty days, emerald trees and the perfect shade of water. Hello […]
Because rainy Monday nights around home are kinda beautiful. Tabletops and rooftops, shining lights, city lights and star light. Hi everyone. I’ve missed you. Find me on: Instagram
A good stretch. Head to toe. Arms previously pillowed beneath my face now raised above my head. Deeeep breath. Back arched, legs reaching their fullest possible length-toes reaching an inch […]
yes – if you get a chance drop off the highway and drive along route-66
