The Face of an Ocean

I think what I love about this image is that it’s all motion — the wind, the surf, the people, the birds… everyone and everything accept for Lifeguard 423, sitting in a box seat, under an enormous turquoise sky full of unrestrained possibility… looking into the face of an ocean— the best view on the beach.

  1. I miss the ocean and all the action of the inter-tidal zone. Such a great place for people and other critters …This photo brings that all back.

  7. Ooh la la! – those colours, those Colours west517!!! I think those seaside turquoises should be bottled and sold as an antidote to depression and gloom! Gorgeous! I love the little pops of cherry red too……. 🙂

    • 🙂 I hear the application procees is quite easy and the job qualifications minimal: 1. Must have a striking pose while relaxed in oversized life guard chair. 2. Must possess a large amount of sun screen –for wearing while seated is said chair and 3. Must (and this is an absolute MUST) be able to work NO MORE than 4 hours a day. 🙂

        My poses are always striking..(I travel with a lighting rig).
        My rucksack is full of factor 2…
        Even 4 minutes of actual toil and I’m a wreck….
        Why didn’t my careers officer tell me about this back in the 1970’s?

    • Thank you so much Mike! That’s exactly what I was trying to convey — albeit the day was rather stormy and I had a very difficult time getting this photo to submit to any form of processing– but finally it relented — I just had to ask nicely 🙂

  18. Great picture. I like the composition big turquoise sky reflected in the sea and all those seagulls (hope they aren’t practising for a remake of Hitchcock’s “The Birds”). I miss the ocean.
